SPOOKY!

This is what you see if you were standing at my front door!

I just love this time of year and have been so excited for a couple of weeks now.  After two trips to the pumpkin patch and one more tomorrow, i will be more than ready.  I just have to carve all the pumpkins now.  I have seen a lot of interesting faces like potato head pieces that i could save my time and use, but i just love the creepy carved faces that light up on Halloween

This year because we recently redid our front lawn and planted a new tree i didn't want to have anything put into it so i stuck with everything being on the porch.
I added new twinkling purple lights and the ball lights around the door.  Next year i hope to get some characters that make spooky noises.
Hope you can enjoy the pictures as much as i enjoy the real thing!

Halloween fun

Well it has certainly been quite a very busy couple of weeks.  I have been busy with school functions, a daughter with an ingrown toenail, the flu, a filling that has fallen out and a little boys birthday.
Some how amongst all this i was able to decorate the house for Halloween (pics to follow), and i also managed to make a cute Halloween card.
When i saw the new snag em stamps by imaginice i had get them.
So i bought the sugar skull stamp and the Dracula.  I love them and ended up making five cards.
I have sent one to my sister's two boys with some Halloween treats.  Two other ones are for the kids teacher's and then one for each of my good friends.
Gotta run back to decorating for the party.  Enjoy your Thursday!

Its beginning to look a lot like...

What a dreary looking day outside.  I think the weather has finally caught up to me.  I, much like everyone else, seem to be coming down with this head cold sinus infection yuck:(
My brain feels like it has floated away somewhere.
I feel as though i want to do some crafting but just don't know what i want to do.  Yesterday i made some Halloween cards which i hope to share later this week.  They turned out soooooo cute.
Keeping with Christmas here is another Christmas card for the class i will be hosting in November.

I just love snowflakes and felt it was perfect for the season.

I chose a lime green card stock as i wanted to stay away from the original green of Christmas.   I used versa mark and a snowflake stamp to sporadically stamp on the edge. The background cream card stock is embossed with a sizzixs snowflake embossing folder.  I used my wish blade and cut out the snowflakes.  I used a pop dot to raise them and a jewel for the middle. The sediment is from stampin up welcome Christmas set and done in old olive then cut out and raised with a pop dot.
I am entering this into the following challenges:
HEART TO HEART - CHRISTMAS
HOUSE OF GILLI - ANYTHING GOES
OOH LA LA CREATIONS - CHRISTMAS SENTIMENT
TOTALLY STAMPALICIOUS - CHRISTMAS
I really wanted to do some baking but just can't seem to figure out what it is i want to bake so i made caramel apples with my daughter.  They turned out great and tasted great too but now I'm over the craving.  Unfortunately, my daughter ate off the caramel but wouldn't eat anything more as she really didn't want her first tooth to fall out yet even though its ready any day now!

The Dinosaurs are coming...

For those of you who have been following regularly, know that i am having a dinosaur themed birthday party at the end of this month.  Let me tell you how excited he is! Everyday he asks if his birthday is today it is so cute but becoming a bit annoying.
He has loved dinosaurs for well over a year and probably has some where around 30 different ones.  Plastic ones, robotic ones, sound ones, little ones, big ones and even ones that walk and roar.  And yes he does play with all of them.
So about six months ago i decided he should have a dinosaur party for his fourth birthday.  I have made the banners from dinosaur paper and plastic bone, invitations, feet for the floor, we are going to have face painting, a dinosaur dig, a dinosaur t-rexcavator (like operation the game but dinosaur bones) and a dinosaur creation table.  I cant wait to start decorating hopefully in about a week.
So here are his invites and i have had many great comments.  Ethan decided there had to be three different colors.  Blue of course as that is his favorite color. Green because all dinosaurs are green. And pink for the girls.

So here they are.  Fitting since he is my little loveosaurus!

WOYWW 175

You might not believe this but the room is spotless!

I spent yesterday cleaning and reorganizing most things.  I can't say i did organize everything because i don't think i will ever be completely organised.
Last week while surfing the web i came across some very organized, beautiful rooms and was so inspired to get mine done.  It has only been over a year since it was repainted and redone, and i never finished it all then.
I'm quite happy with how it is looking right not, and with a few minor things to go i will be done for a while.

Here is my desk and notice how clean!  Wonder how long it will last!

I cut the wall words out myself with my xyron wishblade and put the rod up to hold up all the ribbon.  Finally took all my stamps in the brown bins and put them onto my paper stand for easier access.  I moved all my baskets to my desk as they are the most common things i use all the time.  Enjoy your look ground and if you like what you see follow along with the fabulous Julia.

Get Well Soon

I had a fantastic Thanksgiving weekend.  Saturday i spent at a pumpkin patch/haunted house with two great friends and all of our kids.  It was an absolute blast. Sunday we had a great turkey dinner cooked by yours truly with lots of side dishes.  Ate too much as usual!

Lately, it seems every time i turn around someone is sick or having a complicated, risky surgery.  Is this what happens when you get older:(

Anyways, it gave me a great reason to make two girly get well cards.

One is for a friends mom who is just recovering from hernia surgery.  She just turned 50 and has put it off so long that the pain of the hernia in her groin area was starting to affect her walking.  Ouch doesn't sound like much fun to me.

The other card is for my neighbor who is recovering from spinal surgery.  She is my great friend scrappymo! She had an awful time with problem after problem, for the entire 6 days she was in the hospital. She is so brave and taking next to nothing for pain,  So i got her a couple of scrapbooking/cardmaking magazines and gave her one of these cards.

I have to admit, i went out of my comfort zone when i bought this stamp set but i figured one day i would use it.  So at a recent evening crop, i purchased the patterned paper and new that i was going to use this stamp. I enjoyed making them and really didn't want to part with them.
However they went to very special people with the hopes of giving them a little smile.

I'm submitting this to the following challenges:
1.  Challenge for everybody - anything goes
2.  Dream Valley Challenge - Pink
3.  Pile it on - Vintage or shabby chic

Christmas is coming

Lately i have been very much in the Christmas mood.  Seems odd as we have not even had Thanksgiving yet.  I got to say though, i am looking so forward to turkey on Sunday.  Of course we will eat too much but i will definitely eat all the leftovers!
As Christmas is fast approaching i have already started some holiday cards.  I am hoping to hold a card class in November so i had to get started early.  i have a few Halloween ones to make so i hope to get to them next week.

He is one of the Christmas cards for my upcoming class.  Hope you enjoy.  I used a tree branch memory box die and glittered it with stickles.  I used a brown card and put an aqua background on it. I embossed the background with the swiss dots embossing folder. The stamp is of a partridge inked in Stampin up Caribbean breeze and applied stickles..  I hung it from the tree branch with twine and and added the sentiment.

I am entering this into the following challenges:
1. Delightful Challenge - Winter Holiday
2. Pixie Dust Studio - Anything goes
3. ABC Christmas challenge - 12 days of Christmas

Princess Birthday

I'm back into the swing of things and have been missing spending time in the craft room.
I have done a little re organizing and hope to get some stuff up on the walls now.
But for now i have been busy making cards.  Seems as though every time i turn around it is someones birthday and i need to make a card.  With my son's birthday quickly approaching i have been busy trying to get everything finished for his dinosaur themed party.

This card i have made is a princess card for my niece who lives in Ontario.  She is celebrating her 5th birthday!  I know she has been to Disney world and two Disney cruises so I'm pretty sure she likes princesses.
I found this great cascading card on pinterest and just loved it so i attempted my version of it and it worked out ok.  I'm hoping she will love it!

WOYWW 174

We went away camping for the weekend and had a great time.  The weather was absolutely beautiful for the end of September.  The kids had a great time playing in the leaves and even swimming. Thank goodness for heated pools!
My daughter finally got her cast off and is doing much better.  She is still a little hesitant using it but that is normal.  She has the task of building up her strength in it again.

I have been keeping busy with getting some cards made.  I wish i could spend all day and everyday in my craft room but that is just not possible.  I even got it all cleaned up finally but have dragged a few things out to work on.  So have a little peek at the somewhat tidy space.  If you would love to see more head on over to Julia's page and follow along.

To all the people who follow along Scraps of life by scrappymo! she has finally had her back surgery yesterday and my understanding is she is painful but otherwise doing good.
